چکیده
Biofilms were obtained from cocoons of the silkworm, Bombyx mori, involving removal sericin, extraction and solubilization fibroin fibers, dialysis dispersions preparation biofilms by casting process. Biofilm transparency was verified UV?Vis spectroscopy thermal stability thermogravimetric/differential scanning calorimetry (TG/DSC). Soon after preparation, solidification solution prepared extracted Ajisawa method monitored until biofilm stabilized, using attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) as a function time. The results showed that there change in conformation silk I structure (?-helix) to II (?-sheet). In order improve characterization LiBr Raman used verify stabilization different possible molecular conformations for fibers these materials, comparison with cocoon spectra those solid (freeze-dried precipitated 72 h. TG DSC curves higher content exhibited stability. Thus, data further elucidated properties are widely various processes.

Wild Silkworm Cocoon Contains More Metabolites Than Domestic Silkworm Cocoon to Improve Its Protection
The silk of silkworm consists of fibroin fiber coated by sericins. In addition, some nonprotein components were also identified in the sericin fraction. The presence of nonprotein components in the silk has not been well explained. In the present study, methods based on gas chromatography-mass spectrometry were used to identify the metabolites in the cocoon silk from a wild silkworm and two dom...
متن کاملSilkworm Cocoon,a Biological Composite System
The cocoon of the commercial silkworm Bombyx mori is used as a model natural nonwoven composite to formulate a model for structural properties of nonwoven composites. The model is based upon open cell foam structures for the intrinsic undamaged elastic properties using the component materials in the cocoon, combined with the effect of gradual loss of connectivity in the interfiber bonding as th...
متن کاملAmyloid fibers provide structural integrity to Bacillus subtilis biofilms.
Bacillus subtilis forms biofilms whose constituent cells are held together by an extracellular matrix. Previous studies have shown that the protein TasA and an exopolysaccharide are the main components of the matrix. Given the importance of TasA in biofilm formation, we characterized the physicochemical properties of this protein. We report that purified TasA forms fibers of variable length and...
متن کاملUtilization of silkworm cocoon waste as a sorbent for the removal of oil from water.
The aim of this study is to investigate the utilization of silkworm cocoon waste, such as pierced or stained cocoons, as a sorbent material for the removal of motor and vegetable oils from water. The oil-sorption capacity, rate and reusability of the material were evaluated. The results show the high sorption capacity of the silkworm cocoon waste sorbent (42-52 g(oil)/g(sorbent) for motor oil a...
